People House Kolkata is a dream project of Somen Debnath’s. During his cycling tour of 191 countries from 2004-2023, he was welcomed by many friends and family members. He thought that maybe one day he would be able to host them in Kolkata, so the dream house was started.
The land was purchased in 2012. Happily, his friends and family, especially his parents and younger brothers, supported him. They handed over the house after returning to Kolkata on December 10, 2023. A lot of work has been going on over the past few years and friends and family members have been coming here from all over the world and different parts of India.
He thinks it will also be a home for friends and family who travel from all over the world. After arriving in Kolkata, they can stay here for a few days and do some volunteer work to contribute to the home. This way, people in Kolkata can feel at home. He wants to build a camp ground, open kitchen, a library and a museum hall where all the gifts and souvenirs received from all over the world will be displayed. You can send a postcard from your country and it will be a sign of your thoughts and presence.
You are welcome to come to People House Kolkata. So please email us the address with your arrival date and time. You will be accommodated in the house for 3-5 days. If you need to stay for more days that is also possible if there is space. You can volunteer for 3/4 hours every day for your community service. You will be given a certificate of appreciation for your valuable time and service before you leave the house. Greetings!
